The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston takes a swing at Patterson's ribcage but misses.
Preston closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Patterson tries to kick Preston off but Preston keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Preston performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Preston wants to free his trapped foot but Patterson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Preston is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Patterson is just riding it out for now. Preston eventually gives up the hold.

Preston wants to take a breather but Patterson is having none of it.
Preston is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Preston decides to stand and escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patterson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Preston. No joy for Patterson on that attempt.
Patterson looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Patterson lands a front kick.
Preston is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Patterson clinches up against the cage.
Patterson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Patterson throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Preston swats away the attempt to clinch by Patterson.
Patterson circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Preston drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Patterson follows Preston to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
