PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacques Lim Napoles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Pots (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jacques Lim Napoles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Pots!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pots takes the fight into the clinch.
Napoles fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Napoles tries to pull guard but Pots forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Pots tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Pots stalling against the cage.
Napoles jumps guard but Pots turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacques Lim Napoles. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Napoles has Pots pressed against the cage, preventing Pots from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Napoles jumps guard and drags Pots to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Napoles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pots doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pots manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pots's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pots trying to control the position from guard on top but Napoles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James Pots.
Pots stuffs the takedown attempt from Napoles. Napoles gets slowly back to his feet.
Pots stalks Napoles and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Napoles's face. Napoles staggers backwards, shaken.

Napoles gets a takedown into half guard.
Pots really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Napoles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Napoles is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pots sees it coming and defends easily.
Napoles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Napoles seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Pots is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jacques Lim Napoles!
An out of breath Jacques Lim Napoles thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
