The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Opstal tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Takeru defends well and Van Opstal ends up having to push Takeru into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Van Opstal lands a nice shot to the body.
Van Opstal's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Van Opstal is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Van Opstal prevents Takeru from breaking the clinch.
Van Opstal tries to break free but Takeru pushes him back against the cage.
Takeru is pressed up against the cage. Van Opstal has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Takeru down to the mat. Takeru avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arnold Van Opstal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Takeru keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Arnold Van Opstal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Van Opstal needs to keep his hands up - Takeru had a free shot at his head there.
Van Opstal takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Van Opstal is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Van Opstal tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Takeru swivels and escapes.
Takeru lands a jab to Van Opstal's midsection.

It looks like Arnold Van Opstal has been cut.
Van Opstal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Takeru throws a leg kick which misses Van Opstal's front leg but catches the back leg as Van Opstal tries to avoid it.
Takeru connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good leg kick by Takeru there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Takeru lunges at Van Opstal with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Van Opstal's hand.
Takeru lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Van Opstal is rocked!

Takeru cracks Van Opstal with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Takeru has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Van Opstal to stand back up!
Oh Van Opstal is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Takeru closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Van Opstal out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
