Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacob Barley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mick Helm!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barley throws a right and a left that Helm avoids nicely.
Barley is looking to clinch but Helm is avoiding it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Helm enables Barley to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Helm manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Barley looking to pass the guard.
Helm is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Helm keeping moving, preventing Barley from controlling successfully.
Helm is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Barley wants to control from the top but Helm keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jacob Barley wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Helm walks forward, straight into a front kick from Barley.

Barley throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Helm tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Barley is in Helm's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Helm is pulling down on Barley's head to control his posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Helm looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Helm working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Barley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Helm has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Barley has managed to get both his arms back between Helm's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Helm pulls Barley in close to his closed guard and prevents Barley from doing any damage or advancing position.

Helm looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Helm has a closed guard, preventing Barley from standing up.
Helm is pulling down on Barley's head. It's preventing any offense from Barley, at least for the moment.
Barley connects with a couple of short punches.
Helm managing to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mick Helm hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Helm moves into the clinch.
Barley wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Helm wants to get back to striking at distance but Barley won't allow it.
A head punch on the inside from Barley fails to land.
Helm tries to pull guard but Barley forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Barley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Barley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Helm passes Barley's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Helm is thwarting Barley's attempts to control the position.

Barley looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Helm pushes past his half guard into mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Helm is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Barley has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Barley!

Helm is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Barley has his hands clasped together but Helm extends and breaks Barley's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Helm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mick Helm!
