Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abednego Smiff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Abednego Smiff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Smith!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smiff moves into the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Smith looking for a takedown.
Smiff is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Smiff manages to break the clinch.
Smiff moves to clinch but Smith breaks away

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smiff's guard.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Smiff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith wanted to stand there but Smiff had control of the position.
Smiff keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Smith wants to pass the guard but Smiff is keeping the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Smiff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smiff swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smiff knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
Smiff wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James Smith.

Smith gets caught napping as Smiff dives in and scores a takedown. Smith manages to retain guard.
Smith has control of Smiff's left arm, preventing Smiff from doing any damage.
Smiff wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Smiff is fighting to break Smith's control of his arms but Smith is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smiff scores with a jab to the body.

Smith shoots in for a takedown but Smiff shows good takedown defense.
Smiff tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Smiff moves into the clinch.

Smiff has managed to clinch.
Smiff stalling against the cage.
Smiff gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Smith will probably get the nod.
That's time! Smiff's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Smiff tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've been informed that Smith has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Abednego Smiff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smiff doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smiff tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Smiff takes the fight into the clinch.
Smiff is pressed up against the cage. Smith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smiff down to the mat. Smiff avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Smiff lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Smiff stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Smiff has Smith pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Smith manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Smiff manages to break the clinch.

Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smiff defends it nicely.
Smiff fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smiff tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range.

Smiff escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Abednego Smiff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Smith.

Smiff breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.

Smiff moves into the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Smith is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Smiff to keep the fight standing.

Smiff tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abednego Smiff dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Smiff clinches.

Smiff pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smiff tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Smiff tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.

Smiff gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Smith throwing strikes from guard but Smiff blocks nicely.
Smith wants to control from the top but Smiff keeps moving.

Smith content to stall in guard here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Smiff is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Smith hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Smiff is looking to clinch.
Smiff lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into range.
Smiff tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Smiff.

Smith tries to keep at a distance but Smiff has taken the fight into the clinch.
Smiff stalls.
Smith fails to pull guard.
Smith is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Smiff pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Smith tries for a takedown but Smiff manages to get underhooks.
Abednego Smiff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Smith.
Smiff pushes Smith back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Smiff has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Smith is trying to keep an underhook but Smiff manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Smiff prevents Smith from improving his position.
Smith is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
We've been hearing that Smiff has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
James Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.
Smiff is thwarting Smith's attempts to control the position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Smiff is trying to control. Smith wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Abednego Smiff wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Smiff wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side
and Smith counters with a nice low kick that buckles Smiff's knee momentarily.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Smiff.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Smiff moves into the clinch successfully.

Smiff has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Smith is trying to keep an underhook but Smiff manages to get the takedown into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abednego Smiff showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Smiff has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
