Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Louis Gouveia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gouveia gets a clinch.
Gouveia tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Haze's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've been hearing reports that Gouveia has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Haze lands with a slapping head kick.
Gouveia shoots in but Haze avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Haze throws a body punch but Gouveia moves out of range.
Haze looks for a takedown but Gouveia sprawls well.

Gouveia lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Haze circles away quickly and effectively.

Gouveia tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Haze manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Haze looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Haze connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Haze gets a clinch.
Haze breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Haze shoots in and drives through. Gouveia sprawls well.

Gouveia throws a leg kick but Haze sees it coming and moves out of range.
Gouveia tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Haze paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Haze throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Haze changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gouveia looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Haze passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Gouveia!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Haze lands a nice short elbow.
Haze wants to take a breather but Gouveia is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Purple Haze dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Haze avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Haze slaps away a takedown attempt from Gouveia, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gouveia tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Haze counters by clinching up.
Gouveia stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Gouveia is trying to push Haze away but Haze has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Gouveia is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Haze is defending well.
Gouveia gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Haze.
Gouveia has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Gouveia pulls guard effortlessly.
Haze slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Gouveia is working an open guard so Haze takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Haze shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gouveia sprawls well. Gouveia wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Haze gets slowly back to his feet.
A slapping leg kick lands for Haze.
Haze circles away from the clinch attempt
and Haze counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gouveia won't be happy with that.
Gouveia is not content to let Haze control the position.
Haze has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Haze closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gouveia circles away.
Louis Gouveia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Purple Haze.

Gouveia fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Haze, pushing him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gouveia is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Haze has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gouveia after a bit of a struggle.
Haze on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Gouveia prevents the takedown attempt.
Haze scores with a knee to the head.
Haze jumps guard but Gouveia stands there with Haze around his waist. Haze gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Haze using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Gouveia has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Gouveia tries to stall but Haze uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Haze escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Haze throws a series of strikes that have Gouveia backpedaling.

Oh Gouveia is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Haze dips a shoulder and cracks Gouveia with a mighty uppercut! Gouveia falls back against the cage and Haze unloads with a barrage of strikes! Gouveia is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Haze screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
