Pilgrim throws a combination that misses
and Avila counters with a stiff right hand.
Billy Pilgrim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Avila feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Pilgrim sprawling to the canvas! Pilgrim rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Avila finish him?!
Pilgrim is rocked!
It looks like Billy Pilgrim has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Avila leaves Pilgrim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Avila connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Avila cracks Pilgrim's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Pilgrim slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Avila can do further damage! This one is done, son!
