Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luke Hobbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Worner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Hobbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenny Worner!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Worner changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hobbs looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hobbs tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Worner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hobbs is holding Worner down, trying to stall.
Hobbs is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Hobbs tries to get to full guard but Worner has control of the leg.

Hobbs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Worner's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Worner's back!
Worner is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hobbs.

Worner is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hobbs closes the distance and pushes Worner back into the cage.

Worner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hobbs unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Hobbs gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Kenny Worner has been cut.
Worner is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Hobbs throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Worners head.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Hobbs for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Our sources have told us that Hobbs has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

Hobbs has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Worner wants to control from the top but Hobbs keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Luke Hobbs wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Worner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hobbs tries to improve position but can't.
Hobbs is trying to control Worner's posture but Worner avoids it.
Hobbs manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Hobbs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hobbs is controlling Worner's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Hobbs is pressing down on Worner's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Luke Hobbs wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Luke Hobbs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Worner looking to sit in guard and control but Hobbs gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hobbs moves into range and clinches up with Worner.

Well Hobbs has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
