PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Preston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Enobi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jeff Enobi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Preston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Enobi!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Enobi throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Enobi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Preston's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Preston actively working from the bottom here.
Enobi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Preston is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Enobi content to control rather than advance.
Preston is trying to control but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Enobi slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeff Enobi was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Enobi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Preston is trying to defend but Enobi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Well, if Enobi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Enobi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Enobi passes to side control.
Enobi content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Enobi is trying to get an arm triangle but Preston is defending well.
Enobi is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Preston will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Enobi fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Enobi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Preston keeps working.
Enobi scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Preston to see if he's OK.

Enobi stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Enobi shoots in but Preston avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Enobi tries to clinch up.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Enobi.

Enobi scores with a nice body kick.

Enobi drives through with a takedown into Preston's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Preston has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Enobi off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Preston is breathing heavily.
Enobi takes one to the side of the head.
Enobi lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Jacob Preston has been cut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Enobi shoots in but Preston avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jacob Preston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Enobi.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Enobi, as that shot connected.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Enobi has Preston up against the cage in a clinch.

Enobi gets control of Preston's arms and successfully pulls guard. Enobi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Enobi pulls Preston in close to prevent any damage.

Enobi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Preston doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Preston manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Enobi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Preston defends well.

Enobi is working an open guard so Preston takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Enobi connects with a body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Enobi goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Enobi closes the distance and clinches.

Enobi pulls guard successfully.
Preston has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Enobi pulls Preston in to control the position.
Preston trying to control the position from guard on top but Enobi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Enobi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Preston is one step ahead there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Enobi scores with a one two! Preston had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Enobi ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Preston avoids a kick to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Preston as Enobi shoots in.

Enobi tries to free his leg and advance position but Preston is retaining full guard.

Preston avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Enobi gets to his feet. Preston looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Enobi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A punch combination from Enobi misses.

Enobi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Preston sprawls well initially but Enobi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Enobi lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Preston trying to get back to full guard but Enobi takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Enobi lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Enobi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Enobi is working for a guillotine from mount but Preston frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Enobi is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Enobi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Preston manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Enobi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Preston's shoulder. That is not cool.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Enobi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Enobi gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Enobi drags the fight down to the ground.
Preston wants to control from the top but Enobi keeps moving.

Enobi is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Preston presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Enobi using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Preston has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Preston is trying to break the clinch but Enobi is controlling him.

Enobi breaks the clinch.
Enobi throws a sloppy head kick and Preston moves out of range easily.

Enobi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Enobi showed some decent athleticism there.
Enobi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Preston keeps working.

Enobi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Enobi controlling the pace.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Preston slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Enobi content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Enobi scoring with punches to the head and body.

Enobi tries to free his leg and advance position but Preston is retaining full guard.
Enobi slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Preston wants to control but Enobi postures up.
Preston is looking for a sweep.

Enobi has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Enobi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Enobi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Enobi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Enobi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Preston being controlled for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Preston pushes Enobi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Enobi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Enobi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Enobi advances to full mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Preston has left one of his arms exposed and Enobi doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Preston screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jeff Enobi!
