Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Goodman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David James!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. James manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

James drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

James is trying to get an arm triangle but Goodman is defending well.

James is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Goodman has escaped the position, nice work there.
James in side control lands a decent elbow.
Goodman is looking to work his way out of this bad position but James is controlling him well.
James scores with punches from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goodman is trying to get back to half guard.
Goodman is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

James wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Goodman, who protects the arm well.

James looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Goodman is pushing James's head away, looking to escape. James manages to hold on to the position though.
James staying calm.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goodman is not content to let James control the position.
James cracks Goodman with a big elbow.
A lull in the action here.
James lands an elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Goodman can't do much from the bottom here.
Goodman managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by James.

James working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

James is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Goodman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
James moves into full mount!

Goodman is rocked!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, James cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Oh Goodman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
James loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Goodman scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from James land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. James stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David James!
David James decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
Jon Goodman was interviewed post fight and said 'Well this sucks and I am sorry to disappoint all the fans. I will come back better.'.
