And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wanderlei Silva!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gein lands a right hook to the body.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gein swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gein scores with a three punch combo!
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Gein circles away.
Gein misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Silva takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silva fails in his attempt to clinch.
No joy there for Gein, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gein scores with a takedown into Silva's guard.
Gein loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gein chips away with some ground and pound.
Gein sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Silva's guard.
Silva is looking to escape.
Silva looks gassed!
Silva avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gein.
Silva is trying to stand back up but Gein is controlling him

Gein seems to be looking for submissions.
Gein has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gein has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Silva's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gein with good strikes from the mount here!
Gein lands a heavy elbow.
Gein sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Gein with shots to the head and body - Silva looks very uncomfortable down there.
Gein looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Silva is in a horrible position here. Gein smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
You get the feeling that Silva really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Silva defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gein.
Gein breaks from Silva's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Silva in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

BOOM! Gein connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Silva is squirming around, avoiding Gein's attempts to control the action.
Silva's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Gein putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gein is landing with some decent strikes but Silva is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
BOOM! Gein connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Silva is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Gein unloading with bombs!
Gein lands a big elbow.
Gein breaks from Silva's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Gein landing strikes, looking to finish!
Gein cracks Silva with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Gein is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Silva can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Silva is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Gein takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gein scoring with strikes but Silva is staying in there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Gein working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Silva turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Gein off and cradles Silva's limp body as Gein celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Otis Gein!
