PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Champ Bombada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Marsden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Champ Bombada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roger Marsden!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bombada misses the shot to the body.
Marsden dives in for a single leg takedown but Bombada sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Bombada escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bombada fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marsden manages to avoid it.
Bombada looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Bombada closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
No luck for Marsden with that takedown attempt.
Bombada misses with a hook. Marsden ducked under it nicely.
We've been informed that Marsden has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Marsden throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bombada misses with a looping left.
Marsden fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bombada manages to avoid it.
Marsden jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Marsden is looking for submissions but instead, Bombada has regained full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Marsden is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bombada is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bombada has escaped and now he's on top!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marsden.
Champ Bombada is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Marsden drives through with a takedown into guard.

Marsden postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bombada is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Marsden, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bombada stands up and waves to Marsden to follow him.

Bombada misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Marsden goes for a double leg but Bombada avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bombada continues to drive forward.

Marsden is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bombada has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Marsden is proving hard to escape from.

Marsden throws the left hand but Bombada avoids the punch easily.
Bombada is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Marsden's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Bombada takes a swing at Marsden's ribcage but misses.

Marsden shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bombada sprawls well. Bombada wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Marsden gets slowly back to his feet.
Bombada tries to bum rush Marsden with a series of wild strikes but Marsden uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Marsden is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bombada's half guard.
Champ Bombada has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bombada moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Marsden is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Marsden's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Marsden is looking to pass into half guard but Bombada pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Bombada is in guard.
Bombada would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bombada got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marsden has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bombada has managed to get both his arms back between Marsden's legs - danger averted.

Bombada stands up and waves to Marsden to follow him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Marsden is defended easily by Bombada.
Marsden throws a body punch but Bombada moves out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bombada gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Marsden.
Bombada has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Marsden finds it's way round the side to connect with Bombada's head.
Bombada has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bombada there as he acknowledges the shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Roger Marsden.
I've got Marsden winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
