PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antifanz Del Norte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Ridgeon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Del Norte comes to the cage accompanied by La Coka Nostra - Malverde Market. Ridgeon has chosen Skulls as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antifanz Del Norte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Lewis Ridgeon!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Del Norte tries to close the distance and clinch but Ridgeon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ridgeon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Del Norte circles away.

Del Norte fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ridgeon sprawls well initially but Del Norte persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Del Norte is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Del Norte seems to be working for a kimura but Ridgeon defends the submission attempt.
Del Norte throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Del Norte looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Del Norte is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ridgeon has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ridgeon manages to get to full guard.
Del Norte trying to control the position from guard on top but Ridgeon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Del Norte postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ridgeon wants to sweep here but Del Norte controlling him for the moment.

Del Norte drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ridgeon manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Del Norte has Ridgeon in his guard.
Del Norte is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Ridgeon is looking to advance position but Del Norte has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Ridgeon sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Del Norte has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Del Norte throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ridgeon to regain full guard.

Ridgeon told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Del Norte throws a big right hand that misses.
Ridgeon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Del Norte works over Ridgeon with some ground and pound from guard.
Del Norte throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ridgeon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Del Norte won't allow Ridgeon to sweep him here.
Del Norte wants to control from the top but Ridgeon keeps moving.
Del Norte working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ridgeon's head.
Ridgeon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Del Norte's guard.
Ridgeon keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Del Norte's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Del Norte not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Ridgeon throws a strike but Del Norte avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Del Norte has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That was a close round but I would say that Antifanz Del Norte will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Del Norte misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ridgeon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Lewis Ridgeon was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Ridgeon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Del Norte napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ridgeon throws an elbow but Del Norte slips to the side and avoids it well.

Ridgeon goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Del Norte has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ridgeon but great work by Del Norte.

Del Norte tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Del Norte throws a strike aimed at the side of Ridgeon's head but Ridgeon avoids it well.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
You can see the frustration on Ridgeon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Del Norte swings around for an armbar but Ridgeon sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Del Norte's guard.

Ridgeon is working Del Norte over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ridgeon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Del Norte doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Del Norte manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Antifanz Del Norte dominated that second round.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Del Norte here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Ridgeon with shots to the head and body - Del Norte looks very uncomfortable down there.


Del Norte is rocked!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ridgeon postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Del Norte out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Ridgeon goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Lewis Ridgeon!
An out of breath Lewis Ridgeon thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
