PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Van Damme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Holmes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damme comes to the cage accompanied by Fight to Survive. Holmes is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Everybody Knows My Name. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Holmes!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Damme.
Damme moves out of range of the strikes.
Damme throws a leg kick but Holmes sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Holmes lands with a straight right. Damme didn't see that one coming.
Damme ducks under a wild hook from Holmes.
Good leg kick by Damme there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Holmes throws a jab but it's blocked by Damme.
Damme showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Holmes.
Damme tries to land a leg kick but Holmes saw it coming and moves away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Damme looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Damme misses with an uppercut. Holmes saw that one coming.
Damme throws a low kick but it's checked well by Holmes.
A slapping leg kick lands for Damme.
Damme tries to clinch up but Holmes circles away and keeps his distance.
Damme pivots, looking for a leg kick but Holmes is out of range and Damme settles back down.

Holmes explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Holmes throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Holmes slips a straight right by Damme.
Holmes throws a body punch but Damme moves out of range.
Holmes scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Damme throws a sloppy head kick and Holmes moves out of range easily.
Damme throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Holmes on the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Holmes walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Holmes thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Damme if he has to take too many more of those.

Damme lands a really nice looking cross but Holmes seems unphased.

Holmes lands a big head kick that sends Damme tumbling to the mat! Holmes takes a step backwards and waves Damme back to his feet - he wants the finish!

A chopping leg kick lands by Damme.
Holmes throws a push kick but Damme slaps the foot to one side.

Holmes tries to keep at a distance but Damme has taken the fight into the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Holmes creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Holmes lands a left hand.
Damme throws a head punch that misses.
Damme swings wildly with an uppercut but Holmes uses good head movement to avoid it.
Holmes lands a nice knee to the body.
Holmes putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Damme in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Damme seems to have got his legs back now.
Damme is breathing heavily.
Holmes tries a knee to the head but Damme blocks it.

Damme swings wildly with an uppercut but Holmes uses good head movement to avoid it.

Holmes stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Holmes lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Holmes turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Damme is looking to chop away at Holmes's legs.
Damme throws out a leg kick but Holmes moves out of range and Damme only half commits.

Holmes goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Holmes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Holmes feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Damme's calf.

Holmes sends Damme crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Holmes is motioning to the referee to let Damme up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Damme takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Damme circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Holmes. Damme falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Holmes!

A relieved looking Mike Holmes thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
