The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michaels lands with a shot to the body.

King has managed to clinch.

King escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
King throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Michaels moves into the clinch.

Michaels shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says King as he avoids it easily.
King fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Brian King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King moves into range and clinches up with Michaels.

King escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

King shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

King really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Michaels tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but King wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Michaels manages to get an easy takedown there - catching King on his heels. He'll look to pass King's guard now, I'm sure.
Michaels has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of King is proving hard to escape from.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King pushes Michaels off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Michaels moves into the clinch successfully.

King shoots in looking for a takedown. Michaels tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Michaels manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Michaels tries to close the distance and clinch but King swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
King throws a series of punches but Michaels avoids them all with ease.
Michaels dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
King misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Michaels tries to score with a low kick but King moves his leg out of the way.
Michaels lands with a good body shot.
King shoots in but Michaels avoids the takedown attempt easily.
King throws a right and a left that Michaels avoids nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
King stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and King wants it to stay on the feet.

Michaels is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in King's half guard.
King is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Imperium MMA Gym(4 Sprbt 4*+)(15 Coach)$850 that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Michaels really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
King is looking for a sweep. Michaels is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Michaels tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
King tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Michaels swivels and escapes.

Michaels shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. King defends it nicely.

Michaels sizes up King with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
King tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Michaels defends well and King ends up having to push Michaels into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

King gets in close and instigates a clinch.
King is trying to force a seperation but Michaels has the dominant position.
Michaels keeps control of King as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Michaels wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Michaels jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as King walks away with a smile on his face. Michaels gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Michaels fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage.
King is trying to force a seperation but Michaels has the dominant position.
Michaels is trying to break the clinch but King is controlling him.
Michaels can't break the clinch.

King's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Michaels fails with a takedown attempt.

Michaels scores with a takedown into King's guard.
Michaels wants to stand but King has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
King doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
King will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Michaels trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now King is on top in guard.
Brian King overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and King counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Michaels!

King has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
King leaves Michaels with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
