PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JesseJames Bashor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). JesseJames Bashor struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesse Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, JesseJames Bashor!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bashor connects with a body shot.
Bashor uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Banner.
Bashor slips a straight right by Banner.
Banner paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Bashor moves away from the strike by Banner.
Banner lands with a hook. Bashor tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Banner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bashor.
Bashor fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bashor bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Banner works over Bashor's head and body with a nice combination.


Bashor is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Banner takes a jab right on the kisser.
Banner throws the left hand but Bashor avoids the punch easily.

Bashor closes the distance and pushes Banner back into the cage.
Banner misses with a short punch on the inside.
Bashor keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Banner's efforts to push away.
Bashor misses with an elbow strike.
Bashor lands a damaging elbow.

Bashor lands with a left to the head.
Banner on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Banner wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bashor has him pressed against the cage.
Banner tries to break free but Bashor pushes him back against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
The crowd are getting on Bashor's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
Bashor tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Bashor lands with a left to the head.
A nice right hand lands inside from Bashor.
Bashor pushes off an throws an elbow but Banner leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Banner is trying to force a seperation but Bashor has the dominant position.
Banner can't find room to land a body shot as Bashor controls the action.
Bashor creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Bashor throws an elbow but it misses.
Banner on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bashor prevents Banner from breaking the clinch.

Bashor looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Banner can't break the clinch.
Banner tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Banner fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Bashor throws an elbow but it misses.

Bashor throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Banner misses with some punches.
Banner tries to circle away but Bashor has him pinned against the cage.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Banner is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bashor is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Banner to the mat. Banner regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bashor controls from within his opponent's guard.
Banner has control of Bashor's left arm, preventing Bashor from doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bashor not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Banner seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Banner seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

OK we're going to have a standup here. JesseJames Bashor hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Bashor lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Bashor misses with a hook to the body
and Banner counters with a two punch combo.
Bashor moves away from the strike by Banner.
A swing and a miss from Banner.
Banner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bashor moves away.
Banner thows a body shot but no joy.
Banner misses with an uppercut. Bashor saw that one coming.

Bashor clinches up with Banner and pushes him back against the cage.

Stalling in the clinch from Bashor.
Banner blocks the elbow strike.
Bashor trying to control the position but instead, Banner has worked for underhooks and has pushed Bashor into the cage.
Banner looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bashor stalls.
Banner wants to break the clinch but can't.
Banner can't break the clinch.
Banner blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Banner wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bashor has him pressed against the cage.
Bashor trying to stall but Banner improves his position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Banner wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Stalling in the clinch from Bashor.
Bashor is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but JesseJames Bashor will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bashor ducks under a wild hook from Banner.
Banner tests Bashor's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Bashor shoots in for a double leg but Banner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bashor scores with a hook to the body. Banner takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Bashor takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Bashor moves out of range of the body kick.
Banner throws a head kick that misses.
Jesse Banner is winning the standup battle so far.
Bashor throws a nice looking combination but Banner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bashor has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Banner finds it's way round the side to connect with Bashor's head.
Bashor slips under a jab from Banner.

Banner drops Bashor with a beautiful combination! Bashor stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Banner is looking for the KO!
Bashor is still on wobbly legs! Can Banner finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Banner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Banner throws a nice looking combination but Bashor bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bashor tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Banner is able to avoid easily.
Banner misses with a straight right.
Banner cracks Bashor with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Bashor falls to his knees and Banner doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jesse Banner!
A very excited looking Jesse Banner made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
