Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, John England!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Julius Lawson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
England tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lawson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lawson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lawson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent England stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

England closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

England manages to break the clinch.
Lawson misses with a jab, cross combination.
England tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lawson defends well and England ends up having to push Lawson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

England breaks the clinch.
Lawson throws a lazy uppercut
and England counters with a thumping low kick.
Lawson scores with a decent looking hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
England is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lawson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Lawson scores with a sloppy right hand. England should have avoided that one.
Lawson looks to land a right hand but England moved out of range.
Julius Lawson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

England is trying to force a seperation but Lawson has the dominant position.
England is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
England lands a right hand that snaps the head of Lawson backwards.

England misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Julius Lawson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab lands there for England.
Lawson throws a poor cross that misses
and England counters with an inside leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
England ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lawson moves away.
England looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Lawson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from England.

Lawson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Lawson works the jab nicely.
England darts in trying to clinch
and Lawson counters with a nice body shot.
England closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Lawson counter with a right hand.
Lawson connects with a body shot that sends England's belly button to the back.

Lawson throws a jab when England was well out of range.
Lawson lands a body shot.
England is breathing heavily.

Lawson lands a big right hand that sends England crashing to the mat! Lawson stays standing though and waves England back to his feet!


It looks like John England has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
England walks straight into a right hand from Lawson - that's dropped him! Lawson jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save England from any more punishment! England complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Julius Lawson!
Julius Lawson gave a mention to Milwaukee's Best 160 SALE $140 in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
