The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lovein fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pettis, pushing him back against the cage.
Pettis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Pettis is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Lovein is trying to break free.

Lovein breaks the clinch.
No luck for Lovein with that takedown attempt.

Pettis tries to keep at a distance but Lovein has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lovein is looking to break free of the clinch but Pettis has double underhooks.
Lovein has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Lovein misses with a takedown attempt - Pettis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lovein closes the distance and clinches up with Pettis, looking for a takedown. Lovein pushes Pettis against the cage but Pettis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Pettis just misses with a elbow thrown towards Lovein's brow.
Lovein has had enough of the clinch but Pettis keeps him there for the moment.

Lovein breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lovein goes for a double leg but Pettis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pettis continues to drive forward.
Lovein is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Pettis is trying to maintain a safe position but Lovein gets an underhook and turns Pettis into the cage.
