Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Shafer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shafer is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Big Shit Poppin. Thomas Nguyen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shafer is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Nguyen.
Nguyen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Shafer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nguyen is trying to defend but Shafer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Shafer decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Shafer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nguyen sprawls well initially but Shafer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Nguyen wants to stand back up but Shafer manages to pass into side control.
Nguyen tries to escape but Shafer is in control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shafer is looking to take a break and control but Nguyen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nguyen is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shafer has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Shafer looks up at the clock and then as Nguyen takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shafer smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

It looks like Thomas Nguyen has been cut.

Shafer creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee asks Shafer politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Shafer prefers to stall for the moment though.

Shafer tries to score with some ground and pound. Nguyen controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Nguyen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Shafer asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Nguyen wants to get back to his feet but Shafer drags him back down.

Shafer has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Nguyen!

Nguyen is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Shafer is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Nguyen to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Nguyen shrugs it off.
A big strike lands for Shafer! That's really hurt Nguyen and he's turned his back - Shafer keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Shafer jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
