PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Awesome Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Solo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Solo feints and as Mac raises his hands in defense, Solo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Solo sitting in guard here, content to control.
Mac tries to strike from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jim Solo wasn't active enough on the ground.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mac.
Solo throws a head kick but Mac moves out of range.

Solo closes the distance and clinches.
Mac jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Solo walks away with a smile on his face. Mac gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mac looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Solo is fending him off so far but Mac persists. Nope, Solo circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Awesome Mac. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mac wants to clinch
and Solo counters with an inside leg kick.
Solo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mac defends it nicely.

Solo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mac is trying to defend but Solo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Mac really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Solo drives through with a takedown into Mac's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Solo goes for a double leg but Mac avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mac continues to drive forward.

Mac breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mac will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Solo makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mac drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Our sources have told us that Mac has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Solo tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Mac tries to clinch but Solo moves out of range.

Mac tries to lock up and control but Solo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Solo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mac can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mac looks for a takedown but Solo sprawls well.
Solo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Solo is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Mac presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Solo is trying to trip Mac. He has hold of a leg but Mac is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Solo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Solo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mac is looking to escape.

Well Solo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
