PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wango Tango (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Muerte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Tango might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Super Bon Bon - Soul Coughing. The key to victory for Wango Tango has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wango Tango!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Muerte!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tango lands a jab to Muerte's midsection.
Muerte takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Tango scores with the left hand. Muerte knows he should have avoided that one.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sloppy strikes from Muerte. Those never looked like landing.

Muerte tries to keep at a distance but Tango has taken the fight into the clinch.

Tango's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tango lands a big uppercut and Muerte crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Muerte looks OK. Tango waves Muerte back to his feet!

It looks like Thiago Muerte has been cut.
Tango tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Muerte was well out of range. Poor timing from Tango.
Tango fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Tango definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Muerte looks winded!
Tango tries to clinch there but Muerte circles away.
Tango lands with a nice body punch.
Wango Tango seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tango darts in and clinches Muerte up against the cage.

Tango escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Tango has managed to clinch.
Tango digs a right hand underneath Muerte's ribcage. Muerte let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Tango will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Muerte up against the cage.
Tango digs a right hand into Muerte's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Muerte's gas tank.

Tango manages to break the clinch.

Tango looks to land a combination but Muerte avoids it well.
Tango getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Muerte swats away the attempt to clinch by Tango.
A jab from Tango finds it's way through Muerte's defenses.

Tango feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Muerte sprawling to the canvas! Muerte rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Tango finish him?!

Muerte is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tango doesn't manage to clinch there - Muerte circles away.
Muerte shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tango but Tango pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Muerte is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Tango doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Muerte crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Muerte's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Wango Tango!
A relieved looking Wango Tango thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
