Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mookie Magaba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skull Crash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Magaba might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become . Skull Crash has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mookie Magaba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Skull Crash!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Alyssa Summers and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crash feints and then cracks Magaba's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Magaba down.
Nice sprawl there from Crash as Magaba shoots in.
Magaba doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Crash counters with a nice kick to the body.
Crash thows a body shot but no joy.
Magaba ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Crash moves away.
Magaba closes the distance and clinches up with Crash, looking for a takedown. Magaba pushes Crash against the cage but Crash circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mookie Magaba. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Crash scores with a nice body kick.
Magaba misses with a double jab
and Crash counters with a solid body kick.
Crash drops his hands momentarily and Magaba takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Crash throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A looping hook to the body misses from Magaba. Crash does a little dance to reset his feet.
Magaba looks to land a right hand but Crash moved out of range.
Magaba throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Crash.
Crash swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Crash throws the kick towards the body but Magaba avoids it.
Magaba tries to bum rush Crash with a series of wild strikes but Crash uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Magaba fails with a takedown attempt.
Magaba throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

and Crash counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Mookie Magaba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crash throws a sloppy body shot
and Magaba counters with a three punch combo that has Crash backing up. Crash nods at Magaba to acknowledge the strikes.
Crash looks to score with a jab to the body but Magaba is just out of range.
Magaba tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Crash turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Magaba counters with a left and a right that stings Crash.
Magaba misses with a takedown
and Crash counters with a head kick. That will keep Magaba thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Magaba fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Crash to the ground. Magaba is now in Crash's guard.
Crash is trying to control the position but Magaba postures up.
Crash working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Magaba.
Magaba throws a strike but Crash rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Magaba has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Magaba is on top in guard.

Magaba is looking for a kimura but Crash is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Magaba to get the leverage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close round but I would say that Mookie Magaba will probably get the nod.

Crash throws a head kick but Magaba moves out of range.

Magaba throws a lazy right hand but Crash sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Crash stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Crash wants it to stay on the feet.
Magaba has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Crash.

Crash throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Crash pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Crash throws the left hand but Magaba avoids the punch easily.
Magaba takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Crash goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Magaba takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Crash displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Magaba.

Magaba is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Magaba seems to be working for a kimura but Crash defends the submission attempt.

Crash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Magaba swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Magaba is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Magaba can't keep his opponent in guard - Crash advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Magaba wants to get back to full guard but Crash has passed into side control.
Magaba tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Crash wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Magaba doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Magaba chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Crash can pounce on him.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Crash.

Skull Crash seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Crash jabs Magaba to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Magaba throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Magaba goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Crash has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Magaba but great work by Crash.
Magaba tries to bench press Crash off him but Crash keeps the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Magaba wants to control but Crash postures up.
Magaba is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mookie Magaba overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
A lull in the action here as Crash stalls from top position.
You can see the frustration on Magaba's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Magaba looks to move to half guard but instead Crash has passed into mount! Damn!

Skull Crash has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Crash throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mookie Magaba.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Magaba, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
