PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Malema (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Scott might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to We are the champion. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Magnus Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Julius Malema!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Malema is working for takedown but Scott is calmly controlling the position for now.
Scott dodges an elbow strike from Malema.
Malema effectively controlling the action here.

Malema breaks from the clinch.

Malema drives through and clinches with Scott against the cage.

Malema jumps guard.
Scott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Scott trying to control but Malema is working from the bottom.
Scott is working Malema over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Scott works over Malema with some ground and pound from guard.
Scott seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Malema is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Scott dives into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Malema managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Scott.
Malema looks to move to half guard but instead Scott has passed into mount! Damn!
Scott wants to control the pace but Malema is squirming around nicely.
Scott has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Malema tries to hold on but Scott pushes him away.
Malema is trying desperately to improve position.
Scott sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Malema is looking to get to half guard.

Scott tries to control but Malema wriggling away.
Scott with a couple of short strikes.
Scott content just to control the position here.
Scott has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Scott avoids the attempt from Malema to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scott wants to control the pace but Malema is squirming around nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Malema gets a clinch.
Malema stops a takedown attempt from Scott.
Scott is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Malema gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Malema manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Malema throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Scott escapes and throws Malema's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Scott moves into full mount!
Malema is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Scott looking to control but Malema is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Malema tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Scott lands with some strikes.


Malema is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scott cracks Malema with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Malema is still in real trouble! Can Scott finish him?
Scott unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Malema wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Scott celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Magnus Scott!
An out of breath Magnus Scott thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
