Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcus Freedman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jean Claude Patrick!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patrick moves into the clinch successfully.
Freedman tries to circle away but Patrick has him pinned against the ropes.
Freedman has had enough of the clinch but Patrick keeps him there for the moment.
Freedman is looking to break free of the clinch but Patrick has double underhooks.
Freedman wants to break the clinch but can't.
A left hand lands to the body for Patrick.
Freedman takes a shot to the head.
Still in the clinch, Patrick scores with a nice short uppercut.
Patrick lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Freedman has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Patrick wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Freedman can't break the clinch.
Patrick looking to slow down the pace here.
Patrick lands with a light punch inside.
Patrick tries to work over Freedman's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Freedman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Freedman shoots in but Patrick avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Freedman showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Patrick.
Patrick looks to throw the jab but Freedman is out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patrick throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Freedman.
Patrick has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Freedman is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Patrick fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Freedman moves away from the strike by Patrick.
Freedman looks to land a right hand but Patrick moved out of range.
Freedman takes one on the button.
Patrick misses the jab.
Freedman slips under a jab.
Freedman misses with a series of wild punches.
Patrick closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Freedman swats away the attempt to clinch by Patrick.

Freedman scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Freedman is looking to take a break and control but Patrick is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Patrick struggling a bit here.

Patrick is looking to regain half guard here but Freedman keeps moving and retains side control.

Freedman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Patrick taking punishment in the form of punches.

Freedman decides to stand back up. Freedman steps back and let's Patrick get back to his feet.
Patrick missing with a left hand there. Freedman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Patrick looks to land a combination but Freedman avoids it well.
Jean Claude Patrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Freedman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Patrick moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Freedman defending well as Patrick loads up on a big left hand.
Freedman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Patrick keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Freedman lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Patrick sprawling to the canvas. Freedman follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Patrick hang on?


It looks like Jean Claude Patrick has been cut.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Patrick can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Freedman works his way into side control.
Freedman working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Patrick tries to buck Freedman off but Freedman is having none of it.
Patrick is not content to let Freedman control the position.

Freedman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Freedman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Freedman working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Freedman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Patrick is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Patrick tries to improve position but can't.
Freedman working the head with strikes.

Freedman has hold of Patrick's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Patrick seems comfortable defending it but Freedman has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Patrick is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Patrick is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Freedman couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marcus Freedman!
