These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacOwan lands a head shot.

MacOwan looks to throw the jab but Cumberdale is out of range.

MacOwan kicks Cumberdale off and gets to his feet.

Cumberdale throws a sloppy head kick and MacOwan moves out of range easily.
Kevin MacOwan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
MacOwan uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cumberdale has time to react.

Cumberdale throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
MacOwan throws a looping overhand right but Cumberdale ducks down to avoid it.
Cumberdale shoots in for a takedown but MacOwan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cumberdale is breathing heavily.

MacOwan misses with an uppercut. Cumberdale saw that one coming.
Cumberdale shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts MacOwan as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kelsey Cumberdale. That's going to take a lot out of him.
MacOwan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Cumberdale tries to score a power double leg takedown but MacOwan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cumberdale somewhat.
MacOwan connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Cumberdale's hands.

MacOwan might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Cumberdale displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as MacOwan throws out the jab.
Cumberdale changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. MacOwan tries to avoid it but Cumberdale manages to keep hold of a leg and drag MacOwan to the ground. MacOwan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cumberdale drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

MacOwan looks to throw the jab but Cumberdale is out of range.
Cumberdale fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Cumberdale takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cumberdale takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Good shot there by MacOwan.
MacOwan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

MacOwan slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Cumberdale has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from MacOwan finds it's way round the side to connect with Cumberdale's head.

Cumberdale is rocked!
Cumberdale drops his hands momentarily. MacOwan doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Cumberdale staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Cumberdale doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
