The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Izmailov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Izmailov is looking to clinch.
Izmailov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cardozo defends well and Izmailov ends up having to push Cardozo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cardozo tries a body shot but Izmailov blocks it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Izmailov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Izmailov is looking to pass into half guard but Cardozo pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cardozo is in guard.

Cardozo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Izmailov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Izmailov is looking to cinch up a triangle. Cardozo throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Izmailov's body to avoid the submission. Izmailov has instead reached around Cardozo's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Izmailov arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
