Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails to land the takedown.

Jones is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Turner is in close to Jones's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Turner controls the pace.
Turner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Turner is looking to advance position but Jones has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Turner is looking to escape.
Jones is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Turner keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Turner is working hard here to advance position.
Jones lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Turner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Turner is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Turner tries to hold on but Jones pushes him away.
Jones throws some wild stikes that Turner manages to avoid easily.
Turner keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Turner tries to lock up and control but Jones gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones tries to control but Turner wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Turner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jones napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jones is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Turner just content to control the position.
Turner lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jones down.

Turner connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones some visible discomfort.
Turner is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Turner decides to stand back up.

Turner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Turner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Turner has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.
Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Turner's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Michael Turner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Turner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jones tries to kick Turner off but Turner keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Turner lands a nice shot to the head.

Turner looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Turner breaks from Jones's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Jones can't escape the position.
Jones is in a horrible position here. Turner smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Turner is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jones can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Turner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Turner scores with a takedown into Jones's guard.
Turner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones wants to get back to his feet but Turner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Turner cracks Jones with a solid left hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones pulls Turner in to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Jones tries to sprawl but Turner drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Turner lands strikes from half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Turner lands a nice short elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Turner connects with a nice short shot to Jones's temple.
Jones has hold of Turner's hands but Turner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Jones tries to kick Turner off but Turner keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Turner seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Turner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Turner lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Turner working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Turner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Turner is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?

Turner takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Michael Turner wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Turner. Turner gets slowly back to his feet.
Michael Turner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Turner.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Turner moves out of range easily.

Turner pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Turner has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
