Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Stromeister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zainol Amier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Simon Stromeister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zainol Amier!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stromeister tries to clinch but Amier is having none of it.
Amier shoots in and drives through. Stromeister sprawls well.
Stromeister tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Amier defends well and Stromeister ends up having to push Amier into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Stromeister wants to take the fight to the mat but Amier manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Amier tries to work over Stromeister's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Stromeister gets underhooks to prevent Amier's takedown attempt.
Amier keeps control of Stromeister as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Amier decides to pull guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Stromeister working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Amier's head.
Stromeister makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Stromeister wants to control from the top but Amier keeps moving.
Stromeister wants to pass the guard but Amier is keeping the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Stromeister really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Amier can't do much from the bottom here.
Stromeister lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Amier takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Amier on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Stromeister working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Amier takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Stromeister dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Amier shoots in for a double leg but Stromeister sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

It looks like Zainol Amier has been cut.
Stromeister pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Stromeister clinches up with Amier and pushes him back against the cage.

Simon Stromeister seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stromeister tries to bum rush Amier with a series of wild strikes but Amier uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Amier wants to clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stromeister doesn't manage to clinch there - Amier circles away.
Amier is breathing heavily.

Stromeister shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Stromeister was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Stromeister looks up at the clock and then as Amier takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stromeister smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Stromeister works to advance to full mount. Amier defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Stromeister. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Amier is still in real trouble! Can Stromeister finish him?
Stromeister has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stromeister lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Amier hold on?!

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Stromeister.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simon Stromeister!
In his post fight interview, Simon Stromeister started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
