PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bennie Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georg Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bennie Robinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Georg Scott!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robinson shoots in looking for a takedown but Scott manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Robinson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bennie Robinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott moves to clinch but Robinson breaks away

and Robinson counters by clinching up.
Scott throws a knee to the head but misses.

Robinson has Scott pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Robinson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Scott tumbling to the mat - Robinson dives into Scott's guard.
Scott wants to stand but Robinson is controlling the position.
Robinson wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.
Robinson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Robinson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Bennie Robinson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Robinson throws a sloppy head kick and Scott moves out of range easily.
Scott closes the distance but Robinson moves to the side
and Robinson counters with a series of strikes. Scott will be more careful next time no doubt.

Robinson takes the fight into the clinch.
Scott misses with a knee to the head.

Scott trying to control the position but instead, Robinson has worked for underhooks and has pushed Scott into the cage.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Robinson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Scott walks away with a smile on his face. Robinson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Robinson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Scott closes the distance looking to clinch

and Robinson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Robinson.
Robinson wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scott is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Robinson is controlling him.
Scott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Robinson stays in close to Scott's body and controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bennie Robinson.

Robinson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Scott manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Robinson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


That kick from Scott tenderised Robinson's leg. Robinson is trying to keep his angry face on.
The fight stays on the outside here - Scott looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Robinson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Scott avoids it really well and circles away.

Robinson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Scott is looking to escape.
Robinson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Robinson wants to pass the guard but Scott is defending well.
Robinson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Robinson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bennie Robinson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Scott is defending against the submission attempts here by Robinson.

Robinson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Scott knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Scott has hold of Robinson's hands but Robinson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Robinson wants to pass to mount but Scott is defending the position.

Scott looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Robinson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Scott does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's time! Robinson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Robinson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Scott on his heels. He'll look to pass Scott's guard now, I'm sure.

Scott swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A chopping leg kick lands by Scott.
Robinson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Scott was well out of range. Poor timing from Robinson.
Robinson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Robinson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Scott uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Robinson.

Robinson rushes Scott and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Robinson breaks the clinch.
Bennie Robinson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Scott throws a right and a left that Robinson avoids nicely.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Robinson.

Robinson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Robinson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Robinson prevents Scott from escaping the position.
Robinson is looking to take a break and control but Scott is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Scott seems a little lost for a moment, as Robinson dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bennie Robinson.
Scott is looking to clinch but Robinson is avoiding it.

Scott clinches with his opponent.
Robinson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Robinson managing to block the knees to the body from Scott.
Robinson wants to take the fight to the mat but Scott manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bennie Robinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Robinson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Scott to keep the fight standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Scott misses with a body punch.
Robinson tries to pull guard but Scott forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Robinson is trying to drag Scott to the mat but Scott just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Scott with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Scott breaks from the clinch.
Robinson shoots in looking for a takedown. Scott tries to sprawl out of it but Robinson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Scott manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Robinson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bennie Robinson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Robinson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
