PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Fatts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fatts comes to the cage accompanied by Hit Em Up by Tupac. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Fatts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jefferson shoots in and bounces Fatts off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jefferson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fatts swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jefferson postures up.
Fatts manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jefferson manages to get himself to full guard.

Fatts thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Jefferson is looking for a triangle but Fatts pushes his legs off easily.

Fatts sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jefferson's guard.

Fatts looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Jefferson is trying to keep Fatts in close.
Fatts wants to pass the guard but Jefferson is keeping the position.

Jefferson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fatts gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Fatts drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jefferson dives on top into guard.
Fatts tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jefferson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fatts kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That was a close round but I would say that Jay Fatts will probably get the nod.

and Jefferson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fatts's guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Michael Jefferson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Michael Jefferson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Fatts with a poor takedown

and Jefferson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Fatts feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well Jefferson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
