Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Jaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Veli Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 24 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tony Jaa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 37 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Veli Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwarzeneg looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jaa looks for a takedown but Schwarzeneg sprawls well.
Schwarzeneg misses with a takedown attempt - Jaa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Schwarzeneg tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jaa swivels and escapes.
Tony Jaa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veli Schwarzeneg.
Schwarzeneg misses with a takedown attempt - Jaa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jaa shoots in looking for a takedown. Schwarzeneg tries to sprawl out of it but Jaa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Schwarzeneg manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown but Jaa shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Schwarzeneg tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jaa fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Schwarzeneg shoots for a takedown but Jaa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jaa throws a leg kick but Schwarzeneg sees it coming and moves out of range.

Jaa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Schwarzeneg is aware though and is defending well.

Well, if Schwarzeneg is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Schwarzeneg wants to work for an arm triangle but Jaa is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Schwarzeneg stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Jaa to get to his feet.

Schwarzeneg changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jaa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Schwarzeneg stands up.

Jaa closes the distance and pushes Schwarzeneg back into the ropes.
Jaa lands a knee to the head.
Schwarzeneg drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jaa gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jaa is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Schwarzeneg gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Schwarzeneg tries to stand but can't do so whilst Jaa controls his leg.
Jaa tries to get to full guard but Schwarzeneg has control of the leg.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Schwarzeneg not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Schwarzeneg gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Schwarzeneg feints and as Jaa raises his hands in defense, Schwarzeneg changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schwarzeneg would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Schwarzeneg stands up and waves to Jaa to follow him.
Schwarzeneg fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jaa avoids it really well and circles away.

Jaa rushes Schwarzeneg and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jaa ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jaa no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Schwarzeneg wants to control from the top but Jaa keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Veli Schwarzeneg dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Veli Schwarzeneg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jaa as he jumps to the side.
Tony Jaa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veli Schwarzeneg.

Jaa misses with a hook. Schwarzeneg ducked under it nicely.

Schwarzeneg leaves Jaa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jaa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Schwarzeneg trying to control the position from guard on top but Jaa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jaa tries to land a sweep but no joy.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jaa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Schwarzeneg fails with a takedown attempt.
Schwarzeneg doesn't manage to clinch there - Jaa circles away.

Jaa keeps the fight on the outside.
Schwarzeneg tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Jaa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Schwarzeneg darts in looking for a takedown but Jaa gets double underhooks and turns Schwarzeneg into the ropes.

Schwarzeneg wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Jaa pulls guard successfully.

Jaa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schwarzeneg defends well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Schwarzeneg tries to stand but Jaa is controlling from the bottom.

Jaa has his foot on Schwarzeneg's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schwarzeneg works his way back into a safe position though.
Schwarzeneg sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jaa's guard.

Veli Schwarzeneg has got the better of the ground game so far.

Schwarzeneg decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Schwarzeneg will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

so Schwarzeneg counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Jaa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Schwarzeneg is aware though and is defending well.

Schwarzeneg wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Jaa's closed guard. He's half up but Jaa has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Jaa pivots and extends the arm, Schwarzeneg falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Jaa! Well done that man!
