Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fitzwell swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fitzwell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Davis manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Davis is trying to get back to full guard.
Davis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Davis is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Davis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Davis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fitzwell is looking to stand up but Davis won't let him.

Fitzwell gets to his feet - Davis follows without any prompting.
Davis tries to clinch up but Fitzwell circles away and keeps his distance.
Fitzwell scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Izzy Davis has been cut.
Fitzwell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Fitzwell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Davis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Fitzwell bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Davis's head backwards.

Davis circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Fitzwell. Davis falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Fitzwell!
