The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Li scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Li wants to control but Banks is keeping him busy.
Banks felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Li tries to score with some ground and pound. Banks controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Banks pushes Li away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Li gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Banks throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Li's waist but Li gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Banks off to one side.

Li closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Li lands in his opponent's guard.
