Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Phil Laak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Steinberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Laak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Steinberg!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steinberg wants to slow Laak down by chopping away at his legs.

We've been informed that Steinberg has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Steinberg is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Laak is keeping busy.

Steinberg is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Laak works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Steinberg cracks Laak with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
That kick from Laak tenderised Steinberg's leg. Steinberg is trying to keep his angry face on.

Laak throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Steinberg was covering up waiting for the punch and Laak finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Steinberg can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Laak controls the pace.
Steinberg is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Phil Laak is winning the standup battle so far.
Laak will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Steinberg lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Phil Laak.
Well Laak has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
