PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jon Bash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Dickinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bash comes to the cage accompanied by Undead. Dickinson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by turisas- stand up and fight. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 1, fighting out of London, Jon Bash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Will Dickinson!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bash lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bash misses the shot to the body.
Dickinson has his takedown stuffed

and Bash decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dickinson's guard.
Dickinson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bash trying to control the position from guard on top but Dickinson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bash engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Bash has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Bash seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jon Bash has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Dickinson is looking to clinch but Bash is avoiding it.
Dickinson avoids the body shot from Bash.
Bash throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dickinson wants to clinch but Bash slips to the side

and Bash counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Dickinson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bash gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dickinson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dickinson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bash defends well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bash controls from within his opponent's guard.
Dickinson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bash puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Dickinson is trying to get back to full guard.
Dickinson keeps trying to improve his position.
Bash is trying to control the action in half guard but Dickinson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bash looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

We're going to have a standup here because Jon Bash wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bash misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dickinson.

Dickinson slips a jab from Bash.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Dickinson checks a leg kick.
Bash keeps the fight on the outside.
Bash slaps away a takedown attempt from Dickinson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dickinson has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Dickinson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jon Bash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Dickinson.

and Bash counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dickinson's guard now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dickinson has his foot on Bash's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bash works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Bash's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Dickinson closes the distance but Bash moves to the side
and Bash counters with a right hand to the body.
Dickinson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bash tries to avoid it but Dickinson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bash to the ground. Bash escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bash throws a push kick but Dickinson slaps the foot to one side.
Dickinson darts in looking for a takedown but Bash gets double underhooks and turns Dickinson into the cage.
Bash fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Bash breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Dickinson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Dickinson is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Dickinson trying to control the action but Bash is working from the bottom.
Jon Bash overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bash looks like he's trying to stand up.

Bash manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Dickinson keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jon Bash wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Dickinson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jon Bash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Dickinson.
Bash throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dickinson on the side of the head.
Bash is looking to wear down Dickinson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bash. Dickinson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bash throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Bash tries to bum rush Dickinson with a series of wild strikes but Dickinson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bash throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dickinson tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Bash counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Dickinson thinking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bash wants to control from the top but Dickinson keeps moving.

Bash is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jon Bash.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bash is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dickinson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Bash is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Dickinson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bash to see if he's OK.
Bash is looking to regain half guard here but Dickinson keeps moving and retains side control.

Will Dickinson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bash has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
