The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Scott scores with a takedown into Gomez's guard.
Scott postures up.

Gomez is looking for a triangle but Scott pushes his legs off easily.
Gomez controls Scott momentarily but Scott frees himself.
Scott knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gomez on the ground.

Gomez has his foot on Scott's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Scott works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Scott trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gomez is looking for a triangle but Scott pushes his legs off easily.

Scott will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gomez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Scott gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gomez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Gomez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Scott manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Scott tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gomez is looking to clinch.

Scott darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Scott wants to take a breather but Gomez is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gomez is looking to sinch up a triangle. Scott throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Gomez's body to avoid the submission. Gomez has instead reached around Scott's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Gomez arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
