The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Macarenco tries to keep at a distance but Mattus has taken the fight into the clinch.
Macarenco misses with a punch to the body.
Macarenco tries to circle away but Mattus has him pinned against the cage.

Mattus pulls guard effortlessly.
Macarenco must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mattus looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Macarenco trying to control but Mattus is working from the bottom.
Mattus on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mattus tries to get out of the position.
Mattus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Macarenco's guard.

Mattus has gone for a leg lock! Macarenco slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mattus's guard.

Macarenco wants to stand and escape but instead Mattus has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mattus loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mattus throwing strikes from guard but Macarenco blocks nicely.
Mattus postures up in Macarenco's guard and throws a big left but Macarenco blocks it.
Macarenco wants to stand up but Mattus is controlling him.
Mattus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Macarenco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mattus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tapda Mattus has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Macarenco looks to land a left hand but Mattus moved out of range nicely.

Mattus tries to close the distance and clinch up but Macarenco swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Macarenco drops Mattus with a beautiful combination! Mattus stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Macarenco is looking for the KO!

Mattus is rocked!
Macarenco's coach down at NEXUS GYM was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Macarenco's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Mattus moves out of range of the strikes.
Oh Mattus is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Macarenco throws a sloppy head kick and Mattus moves out of range easily.
Mattus seems to have got his legs back now.
Mattus moves out of range as Macarenco throws a body kick.
Macarenco seems to be stalking Mattus here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Mattus drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
