Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 44 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Taj al Din!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, A J Hearts!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
al Din stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hearts.

Hearts shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in al Din's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hearts in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
al Din working a defensive guard but Hearts manages to pass into side control anyway.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
al Din has one of Hearts's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

You can see the frustration on al Din's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
al Din tries to buck Hearts off but Hearts is having none of it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hearts connects with a nice short shot to al Din's temple.
al Din is trying to control but can't.

al Din wants to control the action here but instead Hearts manages to pass to full mount!

Hearts is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hearts has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
al Din wants to control but Hearts is having none of it.
al Din keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

al Din is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hearts is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
al Din is desperately trying to improve his position but Hearts has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hearts cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
al Din in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Hearts drops a big elbow. That's hurt al Din! More shots from Hearts and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). A J Hearts!
A J Hearts is the new light heavyweight champion!
A relieved looking A J Hearts thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Taj al Din was interviewed post fight and said '"You are a worthy adversary and the better fighter today. May we meet again." Taj bows his head, exits the cage.'.
