Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between A J Hearts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taj al Din (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). al Din has chosen قنب هندي as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, A J Hearts!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 44 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Taj al Din!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hearts lands a leg kick that knocks al Din off balance momentarily.
Hearts misses with a wild body shot.
al Din just misses with a punch to the body.
Hearts moves out of range of the body kick.
al Din has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Hearts shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
al Din is concentrating on defense, preventing Hearts from advancing position.
Hearts trying to mount his opponent but al Din defends it.
al Din regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Hearts.
al Din is trying to control the position but Hearts postures up.

al Din keeping moving, preventing Hearts from controlling successfully.
al Din trying to keep a closed guard but Hearts is proving a slippery customer.
Hearts works a leg free and moves into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hearts keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of al Din's head.
al Din is pulling down on Hearts's head. It's preventing any offense from Hearts, at least for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

al Din throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
al Din looks to land a body kick but Hearts moved away.

so Hearts counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hearts is fighting to break al Din's control of his arms but al Din is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hearts lands a couple of decent looking shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hearts makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
al Din controls Hearts momentarily but Hearts frees himself.

al Din has his foot on Hearts's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hearts works his way back into a safe position though.
Hearts tries to free his leg and advance position but al Din is retaining full guard.

Hearts wants to control from the top but al Din keeps moving.

al Din can't keep his opponent in guard - Hearts advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

al Din is holding on to half guard well.
al Din manages to get to full guard.
al Din controls Hearts momentarily but Hearts frees himself.

Hearts postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hearts is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
al Din looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hearts is looking to work some ground and pound but al Din has wrist control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Taj al Din wasn't active enough on the ground.
al Din throws an off balance right hand

and Hearts decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in al Din's guard.
al Din is trying to keep Hearts in close.
Hearts in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

al Din is trying to control but can't.

That's time! Back to the action!


Hearts throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent al Din stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Hearts stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Taj al Din seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
al Din's corner calls for a 1-2. al Din obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
al Din keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by al Din.
Nice defenses there by al Din.
Nice body kick from al Din.
al Din throws a leg kick but Hearts moved away.

Hearts darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Hearts's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hearts stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. al Din swivels though and keeps the full guard.
al Din utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
al Din is controlling Hearts's posture.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hearts trying to control but al Din is working from the bottom.
Hearts throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as al Din works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
al Din works the jab nicely.
Hearts scores with a jab to the head.
al Din lands with a good body shot.
Good shot there by Hearts.

A thudding body kick lands there by al Din!
al Din throws a hook but Hearts avoids it easily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

al Din dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

A kick lands to the mid section there for al Din.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

al Din pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hearts back to the cage. al Din follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like A J Hearts has been cut.
al Din scores with a nice right hand.
al Din cracks Hearts with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Hearts falls to his knees and al Din doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Taj al Din!
Taj al Din is the new light heavyweight champion!
Taj al Din took to the mic in his post fight interview and said '"One more thing.." (holds up the Ascension title) "Guess I won't be needing this anymore." (punts it into the crowd, the fans go crazy)'.
