Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Leach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Malham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malham has chosen Sparzanza - My World of Sin as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malham looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Leach is fending him off so far but Malham persists. Nope, Leach circles away and we're back to standing.
Malham has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Malham shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Leach but Leach pushes him off and we're back to square one.
No luck for Malham with that takedown attempt.
Matt Leach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Malham.
Leach keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Leach lands with an overhand left.
Malham darts in looking for a takedown but Leach gets double underhooks and turns Malham into the cage.
Leach prevents a takedown attempt there.
Malham can't get the takedown.
Malham is looking to control Leach's arms but Leach gets an underhook and turns him. Now Malham has his back to the cage.
Leach scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Malham throws a head punch that misses.
Leach lands with a left to the head.
Leach misses with a punch to the body.

Malham is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Malham tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Leach smiles and moves away.
Matt Leach is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Leach stuffs the takedown attempt from Malham. Malham gets slowly back to his feet.
Leach goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Malham throws a hook but Leach blocks it.
Leach attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Leach connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Leach looks to score with a jab to the body but Malham is just out of range.
Malham shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Leach as he jumps to the side.
Leach lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Malham circles away quickly and effectively.
Malham misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Leach connects with a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Leach defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Malham.
Leach tries to land a front kick but Malham steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Malham shoots in looking for a takedown. Leach tries to sprawl out of it but Malham keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leach manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Malham tries to clinch up but Leach circles away and keeps his distance.
Malham moves out of range as Leach throws a body kick.
Malham takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Leach has cracked Malham with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Leach lands another huge swinging hook and Malham tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Malham, before Leach can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Matt Leach!
After winning the bout, Matt Leach thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
