PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carter Yang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Harcort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Harcort's choice of entrance music: The Game. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harcort shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yang as he avoids it easily.
Yang throws a head kick but Harcort moves out of range.
Harcort shoots in for a double leg but Yang sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Yang is looking to clinch.

Harcort decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Yang manages to get to full guard.
Harcort with a flurry of punches that miss.

Harcort got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yang has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Harcort has managed to get both his arms back between Yang's legs - danger averted.
Harcort loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Harcort working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Yang's head.
Yang avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harcort lands a couple of digs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Harcort working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Harcort connects with a nice short shot to Yang's temple.

Yang has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harcort is working away from the top position though.
Well, if Harcort is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Harcort wants to take a breather but Yang is having none of it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Harcort lands a nice short elbow.
Harcort winds up and cracks Yang with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yang is trying to maintain the position but Harcort is very close to passing his half guard.

Harcort is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harcort takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Yang is rocked!
Harcort looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yang with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Oh Yang is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Harcort is looking for a kimura here.
Harcort is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Harcort scores with a big shot! Yang's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Yang! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phil Harcort!
Phil Harcort was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
