PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Israel Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dawid Paluch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Israel Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Dawid Paluch!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Wood stuffs the takedown attempt from Paluch. Paluch gets slowly back to his feet.
Paluch closes the distance and clinches up with Wood, looking for a takedown. Paluch pushes Wood against the cage but Wood circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Wood!

Wood closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Wood working away.
Paluch stops Wood from passing to mount.

Wood tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wood has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Wood stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Paluch tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wood defends well and Paluch ends up having to push Wood into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Israel Wood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dawid Paluch.
Wood can't break the clinch.
Paluch fails to pull guard.

Paluch's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Paluch fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wood avoids it really well and circles away.

Wood drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Paluch struggling a bit here.

A lull in the action here.
Wood misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Wood wants to stand but Paluch has his arm trapped.

Wood decides to stand back up. Wood steps back and let's Paluch get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wood throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Paluch was covering up waiting for the punch and Wood finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Paluch is controlling Wood's posture.
Wood has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wood wants to stand but Paluch is controlling his posture from full guard.

Paluch had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wood defends it easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Paluch pulls Wood in close to his closed guard and prevents Wood from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Paluch keeping moving, preventing Wood from controlling successfully.
Wood passes Paluch's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wood wants to pass the guard but Paluch is defending well.
Paluch looks like he's trying to stand up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Israel Wood dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Paluch changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wood tries to avoid it but Paluch manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wood to the ground. Wood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Wood gets a takedown into half guard.
Wood passes into side control, despite Paluch's attempt to control the position.

Wood tries to score with some ground and pound. Paluch controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Wood avoids the strikes from the bottom by Paluch.
Wood trying to control the action but Paluch is working from the bottom.
Wood knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paluch on the ground.

Paluch tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wood wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Wood is looking to take a break and control but Paluch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wood wants to stand but Paluch is controlling his arm.
Paluch dodges the ground and pound from Wood.
Wood wants to stand but Paluch has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Israel Wood overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Paluch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Paluch trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Paluch striking off his back but it's not causing Wood any problems.
Wood trying to control the position from guard on top but Paluch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Wood might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Wood got a little sloppy there for a moment and Paluch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wood has managed to get both his arms back between Paluch's legs - danger averted.

Paluch is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Wood has his hands clasped together but Paluch extends and breaks Wood's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Paluch.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dawid Paluch!
