With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Brit!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brit on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Brit takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Staal, right into the meat.
Staal throws a head kick that misses
letting Brit counter with a right hand.

Staal's corner calls for a 1-2. Staal obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

It looks like Johnny Brit has been cut.
Staal closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Staal moves in looking to clinch but Brit pushes him off.

and Brit counters with a left hand that sends Staal to the canvas!

Brit tries to buck Staal off but he can't manage it.
Staal throws a strike there. Brit manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Staal with the ground and pound but Brit uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Brit wants to stand but Staal is controlling the position.
Staal throws a strike but Brit rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Staal has his foot on Brit's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brit works his way back into a safe position though.
Brit is fighting to break Staal's control of his arms but Staal is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Staal throws a looping overhand right but Brit ducks down to avoid it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Staal looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Brit counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johnny Brit will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Brit moves out of range as Staal throws a body kick.
Staal throws a leg kick but Brit sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and Brit counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Staal tries to close the distance and clinch but Brit swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Staal throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A nice leg kick lands there from Staal.
Staal steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Brit.

Brit takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Staal throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Brit.

Staal scores with a shot to the body.
Staal fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Brit.
Staal takes a swing at Brit's ribcage but misses.
Staal connects with a single shot there.

That has opened up Johnny Brit's cut even more.
Brit gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Staal gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Brit is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
