Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Frederick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kowalski has chosen Harvey - Get up and move as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Frederick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 2, fighting out of London, Shawn Kowalski!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frederick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kowalski as he avoids it easily.
A jab lands there for Kowalski.
Nice sprawl there from Kowalski as Frederick shoots in.

Frederick darts in and clinches Kowalski up against the cage.
Kowalski prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Frederick. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Frederick goes for a takedown attempt but Kowalski pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Frederick looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kowalski tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Frederick swivels and escapes.
Kowalski throws a series of punches but Frederick moves out of range.

Frederick cracks Kowalski with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Kowalski is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Frederick asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Kowalski manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Frederick lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Frederick is keen to just control but Kowalski is a slippery customer.
Frederick is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kowalski is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kowalski wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kowalski is not content to let Frederick control the position.

Frederick loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Frederick stops Kowalski from standing up.
Kowalski is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Kowalski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Frederick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Frederick wants to sweep but Kowalski has passed to side control!
You can see the frustration on Frederick's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kowalski tries to score with some ground and pound. Frederick controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Kowalski has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Kowalski wants to get back to his feet but Frederick is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Kowalski has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Frederick is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Frederick is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kowalski gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kowalski tries to pull guard but Frederick holds him up against the cage and eventually Kowalski drops back down to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Frederick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kowalski paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Frederick goes for a takedown attempt but Kowalski pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Shawn Kowalski will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Kowalski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Frederick moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kowalski's coach down at Tycoon Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kowalski's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
No luck for Frederick with that takedown attempt.
Frederick shoots in but no luck this time.
Kowalski shoots for a takedown but Frederick saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Frederick tries to close the distance and clinch but Kowalski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Frederick drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kowalski gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kowalski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Frederick uses from the top position.

Kowalski is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Frederick is aware though and is defending well.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kowalski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Frederick is working an open guard so Kowalski takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Frederick throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kowalski's waist but Kowalski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Frederick off to one side.

Paul Frederick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Kowalski counters with a three punch combo that has Frederick backing up. Frederick nods at Kowalski to acknowledge the strikes.

Frederick closes the distance and clinches up with Kowalski, looking for a takedown. Frederick pushes Kowalski against the cage but Kowalski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kowalski shoots for a double leg takedown but Frederick sprawls well. He's pushed Kowalski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Shawn Kowalski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Frederick shoots in for a takedown but Kowalski shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Frederick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kowalski tries to avoid it but Frederick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kowalski to the ground. Kowalski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Frederick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kowalski decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Frederick, up you get!
Kowalski shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Frederick eats them both and turns towards Kowalski to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kowalski works over Frederick's head and body with a nice combination.
Frederick tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kowalski swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kowalski lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kowalski.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shawn Kowalski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kowalski has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
