The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a head kick but York moves out of range.
Johnson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
York defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Johnson.

Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but York manages to avoid it.

It looks like Russ York has been cut.
Johnson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. York eats them both and turns towards Johnson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
York moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.
York looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but York persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing.
York keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

York is trying to break the clinch but Johnson is controlling him.
York misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Johnson.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Johnson has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, York works to full guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

York bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. York just stands there and leans against the cage.
York has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Johnson after a bit of a struggle.
York is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Johnson is defending well for now.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Johnson. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

York is looking for a sweep. Johnson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. York does a little dance to reset his feet.
York changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but York manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
