PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dick Valentine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomek Gutzeit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Valentine might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I Buy the Drugs. Gutzeit has chosen Sobota- Do gory leb as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentine jabs at Gutzeit's body.

Gutzeit shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Valentine's guard.

Gutzeit is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Valentine is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Valentine has escaped and now he's on top!
Gutzeit wants to stand and escape but Valentine is having none of it.
Valentine wants to get up but he can't break Gutzeit's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Valentine postures up.

Valentine stands up and waves to Gutzeit to follow him.
Gutzeit lands the left hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gutzeit takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Sloppy strikes from Gutzeit. Those never looked like landing.
Valentine misses with a leg kick.
Good leg kick by Valentine there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Valentine lands a jab to the head.
Valentine tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gutzeit swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Gutzeit cracks Valentine with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Gutzeit keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Valentine.
Valentine walks into a jab.
Gutzeit throws a hook but Valentine avoids it easily.
Valentine feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gutzeit's calf.
Gutzeit smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Valentine misses with a head kick.

Gutzeit closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Valentine to the mat! Valentine manages to get full guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Gutzeit working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Gutzeit manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Valentine manages to get himself to full guard.
Valentine controls Gutzeit momentarily but Gutzeit frees himself.
Gutzeit has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Valentine is proving hard to escape from.

Gutzeit wants to control from the top but Valentine keeps moving.
Gutzeit working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Valentine has momentary wrist control but Gutzeit slips an elbow through the middle.
Gutzeit is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tomek Gutzeit wasn't active enough on the ground.

Gutzeit drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gutzeit trying to control but Valentine is working from the bottom.
Valentine is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gutzeit is looking to stand up but Valentine won't let him.
Gutzeit wants to control from the top but Valentine keeps moving.
Gutzeit might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Valentine haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tomek Gutzeit.
Gutzeit doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Valentine counters with a takedown into side control.

Valentine stands up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A nice leg kick lands there from Valentine.
Valentine misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gutzeit slips a straight right by Valentine.
Valentine scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gutzeit takes a kick to the side of the head.
Gutzeit takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Gutzeit is rocked!
A telegraphed right hand from Valentine misses the target.
Gutzeit is still on wobbly legs! Can Valentine finish him?
A big left from Valentine misses.
Gutzeit seems to have recovered his senses.
Valentine fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gutzeit.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gutzeit misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A head kick misses from Valentine.
Valentine circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Gutzeit to the canvas! Gutzeit doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Valentine keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
