Gornev kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is gladiator -magnum. Caesar has chosen Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar Theme as his entrance music. Ivan Gornev could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sir Digby Caesar's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sir Digby Caesar!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gornev misses with a series of wild punches.
Gornev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gornev throws a sloppy head kick and Caesar moves out of range easily.
Caesar's coach down at Franklin D. Bluth Memorial Supergym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Caesar's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Caesar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Gornev is trying to stand up here but Caesar is controlling him well.
Caesar looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Caesar seems to be working for a kimura but Gornev defends the submission attempt.

Caesar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Caesar takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

It looks like Caesar might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Caesar cracks Gornev with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Caesar lands a big shot there that rocks Gornev but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Oh Gornev is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Caesar loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Gornev scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Caesar land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Caesar stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sir Digby Caesar!
After winning the bout, Sir Digby Caesar thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
