The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tuominen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Tuominen has Black pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Tuominen pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Black tumbling to the mat - Tuominen dives into Black's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Edi Tuominen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Tuominen has his foot on Black's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Black works his way back into a safe position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Black shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tuominen but Tuominen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Black shoots in looking for a takedown. Tuominen tries to sprawl out of it but Black keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tuominen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Black is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Tuominen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Black is concentrating on defense, preventing Tuominen from advancing position.
Tuominen is looking to take a break and control but Black is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tuominen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Tuominen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Tuominen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Black with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Black is staying active underneath Tuominen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Tuominen throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Black to regain full guard.

Black pushes Tuominen off and scrambles back to his feet.

Black shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tuominen's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tuominen can do anything to dispel that myth.
