Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shio Sakaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Luigi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Luigi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sakaki was covering up waiting for the punch and Luigi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sakaki can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Luigi controls the pace.

Luigi is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Sakaki looking to sit in guard and control but Luigi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Shio Sakaki.

and Luigi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sakaki's guard now.

Sakaki lands a nice looking kick to the body. Luigi takes a step back to recover.

Luigi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Sakaki tries to kick Luigi off but Luigi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Luigi takes a little break here. Sakaki wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Luigi decides to stand back up. Luigi steps back and let's Sakaki get back to his feet.

Luigi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sakaki's half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Luigi lands a nice short elbow.

Luigi stands up and beckons Sakaki to join him on the feet.

Luigi gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sakaki drops down looking for an ankle pick but Luigi pulls his leg out and moves away.

Luigi shoots in and bounces Sakaki off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Luigi stands and throws Sakaki's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Luigi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sakaki to his feet.
Luigi just misses with a punch to the body.

Luigi takes the fight into the clinch.
We've been informed that Luigi has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Sakaki looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
