The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Leblanc closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Simms quickly recovers to half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Leblanc perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Simms pushes Leblanc off looking to stand but Leblanc dives back in and keeps control.
Leblanc content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Irving Leblanc has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Simms has his takedown stuffed

so Leblanc counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Simms is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Leblanc slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Simms is still in real trouble! Can Leblanc finish him?

Leblanc decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Simms, up you get!

Leblanc lands a huge takedown. Simms is out but the ref is slow to react and Leblanc lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Simms lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
